At least some misleading wording....

The first review (below the ...) was based on information I had at the time. At this point it seems that in other places in the book the author affirmed the authority of Peter. It may be that the author merely made a bad choice of words in trying to relate the importance of James in Jewish-Christian circles. I still find his wording problematic and misleading but he may not have intended the wording (or the translation) to come across that way. It may be a fine book otherwise. I gave it 3 stars--but do not go on that --I just had to pick a rating. The other information was based on another review I read on it ...I have not verified it though I trusted the source. Again perhaps it is a fine book other that some misleading wording. If you buy the book ...be critical in reading.

Not a good book! Pauline usually does good work (I have recommended them)--but someone missed the boat on this one. The book has grave historical and theological problems (contrary to history and the Catholic Faith)

Some Catholic bookstores found the problems and have pulled the book from their shelves. One even I read contacted everyone who purchased it and gave their money back for the book return--with an apology.

This book is unfortunately contains teachings contrary to the Catholic Faith and to history. For instance he goes against the teaching of the Church (and history) regarding the Primacy of St. Peter! He says on pg 106 that James "replaced him, not only as head of the church of the city but as the head of the Christian Movement" and later infers that JAMES had primacy over Peter -- which is contrary to the Church and to the very words of Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Matthew. Others have found other problems with the text as well but this one is a BIG one and flys in the face of history and the Catholic Faith. Thus he does not come from a Catholic perspective (in fact most of the sources he quotes from are Calvanistic Protestant sources--this is not so much the problem --as rather the cause of his mistake regarding Peter). Normally this publisher puts out some good Catholic books...someone must have missed this one...

(I know from my long theological experience which includes a degree in Catholic Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville--but one does not need a degree to see that this is contrary to the Teachings of the Church!!)

Sweet Children's Book

I bought this for an adult AU fan who was already familiar with the book. It is well illustrated, colorful and attractive for children. I just wish there were similar book for adults - with actual photos - relating the wonderful history of Toomer's Corner and its trees. I recommend it for the younger set!

Great book for Auburn fans of all ages!

I am a lifelong Auburn fan, and I think this book is so precious. It does, in fact, touch upon the poisoning of the trees at Toomer's Corner as another reviewer stated, but the message is that the spirit of the trees will live on despite what happens to them physically. Unfortunately the poisoning is now a part of their history but this book reminds us that the trees are more than just trees, as almost all Auburn fans know. The tradition and the memories are what's important and I think that is what we should be discussing with our children so that the spirit will live on forever. The illustrations are also beautiful, which makes it a keepsake for Auburn fans of all ages. War Eagle!

Great book to teach young children about the Toomer's Oaks

Overall, this is a great book to teach young Auburn fans about the history of the Toomer's Oaks. My daughter looks the illustrations, and enjoys me reading it to her. The book is mostly positive, but does have a couple of pages about the trees dying that could be sad to young children. My daughter is a year old and will never be able to experience the tradition with the original trees, but this will be a great way to teach her about them so she will have an appreciation for Toomer's Corner in the future.

So annoying to read!!!

Seriously, are you going to buy this book? I can't understand why this book was chosen as a textbook from the first place. I'm having so much trouble and annyance to finish reading each chapter. His argument or claims are not clearly articulated or researched! He doesn't mention what his own acronyms or abbreviations stand for. He uses pronouns or introduces new terms without an explanation. If he intends to avoid terminologies or abstract concepts then he shouldn't have mentioned about it.

"The columns are often named by the names of the Latin cases used for them, but that differs only in using 'Dative' instead of 'Dir' that we needed in Chapter 4, and [Neg-Loc] which means essntially [not at that location]." p.161

He repeated himself instead of explaining and did not specify which columns he's talking about! If he's going to use "short words" then do so "everywhere" The worst book I have ever read! Thank god, I can be free from this book after finishing this chapter. Also, the book lacks of knowledge on other linguisic areas such as phonology,phonetics, syntax, etc.

Great for Teams

I use this book as the foundation for our site Six Sigma project coaching. It has Six Sigma basics as well as project management basics and teambuilding tools and techniques. It is a terrific moderately priced handbook with fill in the blank forms and tollgate checklists that allow a team to monitor and complete their needed steps for a successful project. Using this book, teams complete the project through verification of the solution set and do not stop with the report of recommendations as they often did before we adapted the tool set in this book.

Was in need of a Six Sigma reference, and this is the book! With all the industry requiring Lean training, this book gives in depth instruction on the processes for corrective action action preventative actions for project managers to succeed!

Just right for Green Belt training

The Six Sigma Way Team Fieldbook is an excellent companion to the original Six Sigma Way. I'm using it as a primary textbook in the Green Belt course at the college where I teach. The Fieldbook does a good job of laying out the "nuts and bolts" process of attacking a problem and making improvements. The book is a little light in some of the more techinical areas, specifically in the Analysis Stage of the DMAIC model. That's where I come in as the course instuctor. I supplement the Fieldbook with the QCI CSSBB Primer and use MiniTab software for statistical analysis. It all blends together, and is held together, by the very well written descriptions of DMAIC methodologies in the Team Fieldbook. This book is exactly what it is intended to be -- A Team Fieldbook for Six Sigma practitioners. Used with the guidance from an experienced Six Sigma practitioner (Black Belt), it is an excellent tool for both training and basic reference.

I didn't have the emotional stamina to finish this in one go. I had to take a breather every now and then to regroup. Beautiful, but heart-wrenching

I feel like J.R. Rogue has stolen my heart from my chest (OUAT style) and has been squeezing it since the moment I started reading this.

I don't think this is a poetry book I'll be revisiting, because it hurt to read. It was beautiful and very well written, but also raw and painful. The words have burrowed into me and I feel haunted.

I definitely recommend this one, and I'm anxiously waiting to be able to order a couple of physical copies of her books because the e-books are not enough. I'm not sure if I'll be ordering a physical copy of this one or not, because I don't know if I could manage reading it again. I'm glad that I did read it, but it was not easy, and I think it might have been the most difficult poetry book I've ever read, but in a good way. Not the themes, but because of the execution of the poetry, that is.

Excellent book of hurt and healing.

Let me tell you where it hurts, it hurts within the pages of this short book of poetry.  I've never rushed to write a review as quickly as I needed to with this book.  It begged to be written while the emotions were still fresh.  JR Rogue should be proud of Tell Me Where it Hurts. From the moment of reading her dedication, I knew I was going to love this book: "For the Caged Birds.  If I can sing, so can you."  It evokes emotions I had buried and most times would rather forget. I, too, was once a caged bird. I've never had tears in my eyes reading poetry before, perhaps because some of these words hit me on such a personal level.  There is often so much unnecessary pain in childhood, even more if the child's innocence is not nurtured. My heart hurt reading these poems.  It hurt for the struggles I've been through, but mostly, it hurt for the author.  Poems with this much raw sadness and heartbreak can only be written from personal experience.  You have to know pain to write pain. For that, I am saddened.

While the title tells the reader what they're getting, what is left out is the healing that can be brought through this book.  There's something to be said about being vulnerable and sharing our hurts.  The world tells us we have to be happy all the time, to slap on a smile and act like everything is fine, even when it is not.  When it doesn't work, there's medication to fix your problem.  What if it was acceptable to share sadness?  By sharing, we are lifting the burden of pretending.  It's exhausting to pretend everything is perfect, it often makes the pain worse.  It's ok to not be ok sometimes.  When Jen Rogue shares her experiences, she is sharing comradery.  I dare to say, this little book could save lives.  It is exponentially more than a simple book of poems. It shows victims of abuse they are not alone, no matter what kind you have suffered, or from whose hand.  This book needs to be read, shared, and given to women to help their hearts heal.
Thank you, Jen, for sharing the deepest parts of yourself for the well-being of others.  You are a brave woman.  I will forever hold your words close to my heart.  I thought Rouge couldn't be beat, but I should have known better.

Dark. Thought provoking and makes me wonder if the author has greatly suffered. I love her words, all her words. We have all had pain in our life, she reminds me I did too.

Venerable Mary of Agreda reported that she received a lengthy revelation, about the terrestrial and heavenly life of Blessed Mary. That revelation was received directly from the Blessed Virgin Mary. The revelation also included information about the Blessed Virgin's relationship with the Triune God as well as the doings and Mysteries performed by Jesus as God-Man in flesh and in Spirit. The information was revealed with extensive detail in a narrative that covers the New Testament time line. She attributed her writings to visions and dictations (word by word) from the Virgin Mary. Written in elegant language, they contain both terrestrial and spiritual detail. Those details were either not known or not totally accepted at the time. These included the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary, the Assumption of Mary, the duties of Michael the Archangel and Gabriel the Archangel, and meticulous detail on the childhood of Jesus. Other detail that Mary of Agreda provided included the Christ's Passion, Resurrection and Ascension.

A SPECIAL BOOK

Before reading this book I could only imagine what life was like for the most humble, yet greatest woman that ever walked the earth. This is my second reading of this work. If you've ever wondered why the Catholics hold Jesus' mother Mary in such high esteem, this book shows you why.

Inspirational

If you ever wondered about the life of Mary, mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ, this abridgement will give you an insiders look.at her life. I can imagine getting all the volumes would hard to get through because of the length. This was perfect and easily read for 15 to 20 minutes at a time and fulfilled the role of spiritual reading very well. Very enlightening.

This book is an amazing insight into the life of the Virgin Mary. Her interior and exterior life was completely aligned with the will of God. She is a perfect example of how to live in a manner most pleasing to Our Lord.
