"Sex and Backpacking" is a frivolous and fun "beach read". The book is built on the back of the speedy 2014 hike of the John Muir Trail by a serious wilderness trekker, humorously framed by the ways Cheryl Stayed’s recent bestselling book “Wild: Lost and Found on the Pacific Coast Trail” and the subsequent movie, impacted the Trail. His insights and observations about “hooking-up” are delivered in a thoughtful, kind and conversational way that will bring a smile to the face of either sex. Most of his thoughts on subject of the "hook-up", are as useful at home as out in the wilderness. I believe his deep domain knowledge on this subject was gained not only from thousands of miles on the trail, but hard earned from many years of work experience. I will give you a hint; his first job out of high school was in the opening act for a US Rolling Stones Tour (Google him). A must read for the every hiker/backpacker, as well as the rest of us! Smiles.

Very fun read! I enjoyed how the author described obtaining his stories, as well as how he discussed their content. The result is a very informative and engaging book. The encounters are sometimes a little uncomfortable, but more often very funny, and always endearing. In addition, his descriptions of the surrounding mountains, lakes etc... make this ex-backpacker want to hit the trails again!

I enjoyed how the author was able to collect 2nd hand stories from the female perspective. As males, we are constantly wondering "what they're thinking" in hopes of satisfying the mind, prior to the body. This info is good advice in any environment.
